Does Affton Have a Prostitution Problem or a Homeless Problem?
Word came to the Mayor last weekend that there is a blonde woman walking around the Affton/Concord Village area who may be either homeless or a prostitute. Apparently she has been written about before, although no one could tell me the publication source nor could I find it on Google.What makes this woman so obvious is the fact that she totes three suitcases with her at all times. Additionally she does not move quickly due to the fact that she can only move two suitcases at a time. It is not uncommon to see her crossing the street, placing two bags, then recrossing to fetch the third case.
WHO IS THIS WOMAN? Has anyone else seen her? How can the Mayor's Office help? I have some citizens engaging in reconaissance to try and obtain evidence, but I advise all citizens to stay informed, vigilant and not to succumb to any such woman of potentially loose moral virtue!

I have seen this woman countless times not only around Affton/Concord but also along Watson near Sunset Hills and even walking along I-55 near Butler Hill Road. I've given her a ride and given her money on a few occations. She mutteres to herself and consistantly offers to do gardening/housecleaning work.
I have no doubt that she has at least some mental issues but I never see her in the winter months. For this reason I suspect that she either knows where to go for shelter when she really needs it or has a home and just chooses not to stay there (sounds crazy but it is not among the "homeless" community).
I've been seeing her around for at least 4 years.
And despite her consistently scantilly attire, I have never in any of my dealings with her had her proposition me for anything other that yardwork. Let's not jump to conclusions too quickly.
Affton Cindy? Yup, know of her and have seen her. As a matter of fact i witnessed her playing with a little red ball near Grasso Plaza just a few weeks ago. Yes, she was throwing the ball in the air and trying to catch it. When she didn't catch it she ran off after it like a little puppy. Quite funny and sad at the same time.
Also, her luggage changes and is different each time i see her. In addition to her luggage, when i saw her near Grasso Plaza, she also had a Homedics Foot Spa box in tow.
I have no first hand experience with her but from what I've heard she is both a prostitute and a drug addict. I've heard she's been seen wintering in the Las Vegas area.
My understanding is that she is quite well known in the area and any local law enforcement officer should be able to give you the skinny on her.
I used to work at the Kinko's on Lindbergh at Baptist Church Rd. The workers there called her "Homeless Barbie." She used to come in late at night for the air conditioning.
One day, Homeless Barbie told me that she went to LA and that she met Brad Pitt and told him she loved him. She said he told her he loved her, too. And they were going to meet up the next time she was in LA.
Since then, I've seen her walking down Gravois, driving a station wagon on Gravois, Tesson Ferry, and Lindbergh, and walking along Lindbergh. She's obviously had a rough life, but she's pleasant and nice. Also, she never asked me for money or anything the few times I've spoken to here.
This woman lives with her parents off of 21. She is schizophrenic and when she goes off her meds she grabs her suitcases and leaves home.
Like many people who suffer from schizophrenia she also has other substance abuse problems as a way to self medicate. She also does exchange sex for whateveer she can get while away from her controled environment.
She is harmless. An eyesore to the community yes. But harmless .

Frank, based on the comments of others, I would opt to not call her an eyesore of the community. Many derelict cars on one's yard is an eyesore.
Let us remember that Homeless Barbie/Affton Cindy is an Afftonian first and has issues second! As we are a welcoming community, this welcome includes people who I call "the real deal".
They are the folks who might have issues such as Cindy or are barely getting by in life. In addition, they make Affton a colorful and interesting place to live.
Wow, who was able to get that pic of her? She looks different from when I've seen her. has she been workiong out? Surgical enhancements? Was that pic taken on Gravois? Thought public nudity was illegal. Crazy or not, if she looks like that next time I see her I will stop too. (Insert sarcasm)
I don't want anyone to think I am heartless and not aware of her needs.
I just mean that when you have children in your car and she says "I want sex I love sex" through your window and you are stuck answering questions and explaining away the occurence she can be a hassle to deal with.
I don't think anyone wants that kind of flavor added tot ehir community.
I do though greatly appreciate all the diversity and experiences that can be had here.
My family is a bi-racial one and I cannot think of anyrhing rhar makes me happier.
So, I certainly hope no one read a wrong interpretation into my post.

Just reread my post and there are some big time typos.
We always called her Tesson Ferry Mary.
I dont think she has been working out. About 2 years ago I saw her being thrown out of Bally's while dragging her (2 then 1) trash bags full of clothes to and from the womens locker room. I have seen her more recently picking up trash at the corner of Gravois and Tesson. That cant be all bad for the community.
People talk about her a lot in the Rants and Raves section of Craigslist.

Her name is Cindy and she used to live across the street from us on Lakeford Lane at Tesson Ferry. I think her family still lives there, so her homeless situation is by choice. She's been wandering around for as long as I've known her (mid-1980s). She used to have terrible fights with her family and then leave - that's when people would see her lugging her luggage/trash bags around Affton (and elsewhere - I've seen her as far away as Lebanon, Missouri). She is likely mentally unbalanced - whatever condition, I am unqualified to speculate, but she can act normal at times, but outrageous at other times. I'm surprised she has survived this long on the street.
Generic Viagra, family values don't affect mental illness. That's a completely thoughtless snap judgement about her family that have no control over an adult's behavior and choices. What, are they supposed to put her in time out? You think a girl like this has never been hospitalized? At some point, your kids make their own choices. And crazy doesn't always make the right choices no matter what they were taught. ED
I cant believe people stand up for trash walking your streets I have had this woman ask for sex in exchange for food,seen her taking a poop between to houses on 21 while i set next to a school bus and also had my child in the car and start fights with Affton St. Louis county officers numerous times. I think its time she joined a tent city somewhere and stopped dragging her trash around my city. No matter what she needs to put some freaking clothes on.
Also to the Mayor I would rather see piles of cars with no wheels in people yards than Affton Cindy walking the streets in her old to big, dirty swimming suit.
treat her with kindness & respect - she is somebodys daughter, I myself am in love with a girl who is homeless & schizophrenic, please people of afton, keep an eye on her and make sure she is safe & well
